Mr. Cate was my building trades teacher at CHS my senior year. We built the visitor's field house at hufford field. I know we gave him just about all he could handle, but he was always super nice and always willing to teach us as long as we were willing to listen and learn. I graduated in 1975 and I can honestly say that in the past 37 years, I have rarely met a man with more class and character than Rex Cate. RIP Mr. Cate and always know that even though your CHS building trades class of 74/75 was full of a bunch of crazy knuckleheads that tried your patience to the limit most of the time, we all loved you and thought the world of you and we thank you for the time you gave of yourself in return for very little reward! My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Cate family.

I was blessed to meet and have Mr.Cates as a great teacher of building trades, in 1981 and 82 we had a bunch of groofballs in his class and we help build two very nice homes in Coleman, still standing by the way. Mr. Cates was a wonderful person and love his family. Sorry for your loss, God bless you.
